Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light; and there was light.

4 And God saw that the light was good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it; and God separated the light from the darkness.

AV (123) – light(s), day, bright, clear, flood, herbs, lightning, morning, sun;

light light of daylight of heavenly luminaries (moon, sun, stars), day-break, dawn, morning light, daylight, lightning, light of lamp, light of life, light of prosperity, light of instruction, light of face, Jehovah as Israel’s light.

Isaiah 9:2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the Light shined.

The same word that is used in Genesis is also used in this portion from Isaiah. It represents the LIGHT of God…Jesus Christ.
The good news is that the light has come and has shined upon us. This LIGHT is CHRIST and his glory has shined upon us so that we might come out from the bondage and shadow of death.

Matthew 5:14
14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidde

The light emitted by a lamp, a heavenly light such as surrounds angels when they appear on earth
anything emitting light, a starfire because it is light and sheds light, a lamp or torch light.

To be able to have LIGHT of Christ shine through us, we need to understand a couple of things. Though there is nothing that can stop, overpower, or put out light; however, there are things that can hinder the brilliance of light from our side. Though this does not in any way make light less powerful, it does mean that we may not be able to experience the glorious power of the light.

HOLINESS

1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God has not called us to impurity but to consecration [to dedicate ourselves to the most thorough purity].

Holiness is one of the things that is much needed in the body of Christ. Holiness is an attitude of the heart and our spirit. Though God makes us “HOLY”, yet we need to make it a habit to walk in that holiness. In fact it’s a way of life that has been designed for every believer.

When we allow holiness to work in us, we are actually preparing ourselves to walk in the power of God and be mightily used of God.

When we refuse to walk in the holiness of God, we stand the risk of hindering the move of God in our lives. God’s plan is for us to walk in his power and glory, and he has made a way for us to walk in His holiness.

1 Thessalonians 4:1-4
1 FURTHERMORE, BRETHREN, we beg and admonish you in [virtue of our union with] the Lord Jesus, that [you follow the instructions which] you learned from us about how you ought to walk so as to please and gratify God, as indeed you are doing, [and] that you do so even more and more abundantly [attaining yet greater perfection in living this life].
2 For you know what charges and precepts we gave you [on the authority and by the inspiration of] the Lord Jesus.
3 For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice,
4 That each one of you should know how to possess (control, manage) his own body in consecration (purity, separated from things profane) and honor,

When we walk in holiness, we begin to allow other attributes like love and power develop and affect our lives. Everyday we have the possibility and opportunity to develop our character with the Word of God, and when we do so, we allow the Spirit of God to use us to reach out and touch this world with the glory and power of God.

Romans 5:1-5
1 THEREFORE, SINCE we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and toenjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
2 Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.
3 Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.
4 And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith andtried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of]joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.
5 Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.

These attributes or qualities that Paul speaks about actually develops when we understand that God has made us holy, and we begin to work from there. We need to be able to build up our character based on holiness, the holiness of God.

Paul says in verse 5, that the LOVE of God is poured out in our hearts. The fact that we choose to walk in HOLINESS is determined by the LOVE of God we have in our hearts. Let’s be honest with ourselves, we struggle to walk in holiness because don’t realize how much LOVE God has poured into our hearts.

God has made us HOLY, through the death of Jesus on the cross, we have been made HOLY. But to walk in holiness we need to understand LOVE. Love and holiness work together, hand in hand.

1 John 4:7-8
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him].
8 He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love.

Love can be seen, it cannot be hid. If you LOVE it will SHOW! No matter how much you try to hide love, you just will not be successful. Love is so powerful that it has to be MANIFEST.

LOVE without HOLINESS is not love but lust!

Love is not a suggestion, in fact it’s a commandment. Love is the essence of a transparent godly character. Love is so awesome that when we exercise love, love begins to flood out of our spirit, soul and body.

When the LOVE of God is present in our lives, it enables and encourages us to be pure, it releases purity.

Colossians 3:14
14 And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony].

2 Timothy 2:22
22 Shun youthful lusts and flee from them, and aim at and pursue righteousness (all that is virtuous and good, right living, conformity to the will of God in thought, word, and deed); [and aim at and pursue] faith, love, [and] peace (harmony and concord with others) in fellowship with all [Christians], who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.

Holiness is connected with Love, and when we make the connection, we will be able to live a HOLY life filled with the LOVE of God.

HOLINESS AND POWER

Romans 1:4
4 And [as to His divine nature] according to the Spirit of holiness was openly designated the Son of God in power [in a striking, triumphant and miraculous manner] by His resurrection from the dead, even Jesus Christ our Lord (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Paul speaking about Jesus in the book of Romans, explains that Jesus was declared to be the Son of God in POWER of God through the Spirit of Holiness.

God wants us to walk in power, but to experience the power of God we need to walk in HOLINESS.
The only way we can walk in the power of God and holiness is by allowing the Spirit of Holiness to operate in and through us.

I’ve seen Christians afraid of praying for the sick or to cast out devils for a variety of reasons:

– because they feel they are not qualified to do so…
– because they don’t know how to pray…
– because they are afraid the sickness or demon will attack them….

The third reason is mainly because they know their lives are not up to God’s standard of holiness.

So many Christians feel that it’s a high standard to walk in holiness, YES! It’s a high standard, because we serve the ALMIGHTY GOD.

As we allow the Holy Spirit to help us, we will begin to enjoy his fellowship and walk in holiness. We have been made the Sons of God and it is important we walk and live as the Sons of God.

John 1:12
12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—

2 Peter 1:3
3 For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue).

1 Thessalonians 3:13
13 So that He may strengthen and confirm and establish your hearts faultlessly pure and unblamable in holiness in the sight of our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) with all His saints (theholy and glorified people of God)! Amen, (so be it)!

Light allows us to see things clearly, when begin to walk in the Light of Christ, we allow the light to shine on us and through us. The light shows us stuff that needs to be cleared out of our lives so that the brilliance of the light might shine out unhindered.

To let the light shine in us and through us, we need to make a conscious decision to walk in holiness. When we walk in holiness, the love of God will be manifest in our lives and the power of God will be released through us.
